Australia To Focus On Long-Range Strike Capability

Australia will focus on long-range precision strike capability, domestic production of guided weapons, and diplomacy, according to a review released on Monday that calls for the country’s largest defense reorganization since World War II.

According to the review, the United States is no longer the “unipolar leader of the Indo-Pacific,” the region is being defined by intense competition between the United States and China, and there is “potential for conflict” as a result of this competition between major powers.

The review was hailed as “the most significant work that has been done since the Second World War” by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who pledged that his administration would implement its findings.

He said that it shows that threats to our country’s safety are constantly changing; no longer can we rely on preconceived notions. He added that when it comes to national security, “we must build strength by seeking to shape the future rather than waiting for the future to shape us.”
