Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy met with European leaders on Thursday in Moldova to advocate for his country’s membership in the NATO military alliance.
27 of the European Union’s member states and 20 additional European countries are meeting in Moldova, which is only twenty kilometers from Ukrainian territory.
Zelenskiy met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and said his government was preparing a meeting to discuss Ukrainian peace proposals and repeated calls for Western fighter jets.
Zelenskiy stated, “We support Moldova and its people as they integrate into the EU.” “We will never forget that you supported our people, our refugees who fled in the first days of the war. Our future lies in Europe. Ukraine is all set for NATO membership.”
Maia Sandu, the president of Moldova, expressed her support for Ukraine’s peace efforts and her desire for EU accession talks to be expedited.
