The junta that recently took power there has ordered the head of the United Nations diplomatic mission in Niger to leave the country within 72 hours, according to a statement released by Niger’s foreign ministry.
According to the statement made public on October 10, the United Nations allegedly prevented Niger from fully participating in the United Nations General Assembly last month and other international gatherings. The statement claimed that France initiated these actions.
In July, Niger’s junta leaders deposed the country’s democratically elected president and expelled French troops and the French ambassador.
