The Turkish trade ministry declared on Thursday that all exports and imports to and from Israel had ceased, citing the growing humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories.
The Turkish trade ministry said in a statement, “We have halted all export and import transactions involving Israel.”
Until the Israeli government permits an uninterrupted and sufficient supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza, he stated that Turkey will rigorously and decisively execute these new measures.
Erdogan, the president of Turkey, was in violation of agreements by blocking ports for Israeli imports and exports, according to Israel’s foreign minister earlier on Thursday.
Israel Katz, the foreign minister of Israel, wrote on the social media platform X, “This is the behavior of a dictator: dismissing international trade agreements and the interests of Turkish citizens and businessmen.”
Katz said that he directed the foreign ministry to produce alternatives to Turkish trade by emphasizing domestic manufacturing and foreign imports.
The volume of trade between the two countries in 2023 amounted to $6.8 billion.
