Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his support for the Chinese plan to peacefully solve the Ukraine crisis in an interview released early Wednesday morning.

Putin told China’s Xinhua news agency before his visit to Beijing this week that while Beijing fully comprehended the crisis’s origins, Russia remained receptive to dialogue and negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict.

Putin stated, “Our evaluation of China’s strategy for resolving the Ukrainian crisis is optimistic,” according to a Kremlin website transcript in Russian. “In Beijing, they truly understand its root causes and its global geopolitical meaning.”

Over a year ago, Beijing presented a 12-point paper that outlined general principles relating to the halting of hostilities but failed to delve into particulars.

The US stated that China was portraying itself as a peacemaker while disseminating Russia’s false narrative and neglecting to condemn its invasion.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described the proposal from the great Chinese civilization for deliberation as a rational scheme a month ago.

Russia perceives the conflict as a struggle against the “collective West,” whose membership expansion of NATO eastward and military engagement near its borders disregard Moscow’s security concerns.

Russia refers to its actions in Ukraine as a “special operation” to disarm and defend Ukraine against fascists.

The West and Ukraine dispute the fascist allegation, claiming that the conflict is an unprovoked act of aggression.
