Japan Sanctions Four West Bank Israeli Settlers

The Japanese government announced on Tuesday that it had imposed asset-freeze sanctions on four individual Israeli settlers in response to their violent actions against Palestinians in the West Bank.

Yoshimasa Hayashi, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, has reported a significant increase in violent behavior by certain Israeli settlers in the West Bank since October of last year.

He explained that in light of the actions taken by the G7 countries and others in this situation, Japan designated the four Israeli settlers involved in violent acts as targets for asset freezing.

“Japan will gradually apply these asset freezing policies and keep strongly urging the Israeli government to totally freeze settlement activities in cooperation with the international community, including the G7,” according to Hayashi.

Britain, the United States, and Canada have approved some individual Israeli settlers in response to the increasing violence in the West Bank following Israel’s war in Gaza.
