Missile Hit Poland Near Border With Ukraine

According to the statement released by the Foreign Ministry of Poland at 00:08 on November 16th, a Russia-made missile dropped on the village of Przewodów, near the Ukrainian border, and resulted in the death of two citizens of the Republic of Poland on Tuesday 15 Nov. at 15:40 local time. Two people were killed. The Russian ambassador was summoned with a demand for detailed explanations.

Defense Ministry of Poland stated that air defense systems and selected military units were taken on high alert and that they were in constant contact with their allies. On Nov 16, 2022, the Polish government spokesman told that the Prime Ministers of Poland and Ukraine has exchanged information and the Ukrainian PM said that Russia fired about 80 cruise missiles on the 15th of November and many of them hit the areas around the Ukrainian-Polish border. On Nov. 16 at 10 a.m.

North Atlantic Council met. At 11 am Polish National Security Council gathered. At 12 at a press briefing, Polish President Andrzej Duda said that it was an S-300 missile probably from Ukraine, which rightly defends itself. NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg also stated according to NATO’s preliminary analysis that the incident was likely caused by a Ukrainian air defense missile fired to defend Ukrainian territory against Russian cruise missile attacks.
