On January 6, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Laura Cooper said that Ukraine will get the Sea Sparrows. “With air defense, you can never consider one system in isolation,” Cooper remarked. “It’s all about the layered air defense with multiple systems.”

The Sea Sparrow missiles are likely to be used with the BUK anti-air missile system in Ukraine.

In addition, there were 18 self-propelled Howitzers and 30 towed Howitzers, as well as 100 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers, 55 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles, 138 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles. Moreover, 1,200 Remote Anti-Armor Mine Systems and additional High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS) ammunition are included.

There was no information about how many Sea Sparrow missiles will be provided to Ukraine in the aid package.
