President Volodymyr Zelenskiy of Ukraine announced in Wednesday’s evening address that they had reached an agreement for Germany to supply Ukraine with additional Patriot air defense missile systems.
“Good news has come out of Germany today, and it’s exactly what we discussed with (German) Chancellor Olaf Scholz. More Patriot defenses are available. The protection of our people from Russian terrorism requires it, so thank you very much, Olaf,” Zelenskiy said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Germany made public its intention to send Ukraine two additional Patriot launchers.
Patriot, a ground-based air defense system manufactured by Raytheon (RTT.N), is designed to intercept incoming missiles.
