Hezbollah launched the highest number of rockets at Israel on Wednesday since the onset of cross-border hostilities, in response to an Israeli strike that resulted in the death of a senior Hezbollah field commander.
According to Israel and three security sources in Lebanon, the Israeli strike in the south Lebanon village of Jouaiyya late on Tuesday killed three Hezbollah fighters and the senior field commander, Taleb Abdallah.
Taleb Abdallah, also known as Abu Taleb, was the commander of Hezbollah in the central region of the southern border strip, sources in Lebanon said.
On Wednesday, Hezbollah said it carried out 17 operations against Israel, with eight of them in retaliation for what it claimed was an assassination in Jouaiyya.
Guided missiles from Hezbollah hit an Israeli military factory. Another claimed the group attacked Israeli military headquarters in Ein Zeitim and Ami’ad and a Meron air surveillance station.
Israeli strikes killed 300 Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon. Israel says the Lebanon attacks killed 18 Israeli soldiers and 10 civilians.
