Israel and Hezbollah Strike Again After Deadly Day in Lebanon

Hezbollah, a militant group based in Lebanon, has launched a new wave of attacks into northern Israel, one day after Israeli airstrikes on the group in Lebanon caused the deadliest day for the country over two decades, killing nearly 500 and wounding 1,600 others.

The Israeli army claimed it struck 1,600 assets belonging to Hezbollah, including rockets, explosive warheads, cruise missiles, and civilian residences housing the munitions.

After getting evacuation orders via text message and phone call from unknown sources in Israel, locals started to flee their homes. A Lebanese radio station reported that an Israeli evacuation alert interrupted their broadcast due to hacking.

Israel and Hezbollah have been fighting each other for decades. However, they have intensified cross-border attacks since the Gaza War commenced on October 7.

Israel’s recent attacks achieve its new war goal: returning residents who evacuated due to Hezbollah attacks to their homes near the northern border.

An Israeli ground invasion of Lebanon is still a possibility.

Netanyahu has expressed to the Lebanonese citizenry that his nation is not at war with them but with Hezbollah.
