Israeli forces evacuated the Palestinian city of Jenin on Friday, concluding one of the most significant security operations in the occupied West Bank in recent months.
The operation left a mass of damaged buildings and infrastructure.
The nine-day operation, which saw troops engage in running gunbattles with Palestinian fighters from factions such as Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and Fatah, resulted in a mass of damaged buildings and infrastructure.
The military issued a statement on the dismantling of 30 explosives that were buried beneath the roads.
The Palestinian foreign ministry accused the military of transferring Gaza Strip-leveling tactics to the West Bank.
The Israeli military stated that the operation, which also targeted the city of Tulkarm, aimed to prevent Iranian-backed militant groups from planning attacks on Israeli civilians. Jenin, located in the northern part of the West Bank, has long been a stronghold of Palestinian armed factions.
The operation killed 21 people in Jenin. A sniper shot a 16-year-old girl who was looking out the window, despite the armed factions’ claims that many were members.
