Hamas and Israel are anticipated to release additional prisoners and hostages on the final day of an extended six-day ceasefire in the Gaza Strip conflict.

Israel reportedly received a list of hostages that Hamas is expected to release on Wednesday, according to Israeli media. No immediate comment was issued by the office of the prime minister.

The Israeli government has stated that the truce could be extended further if Hamas releases ten Israeli hostages daily. Negotiations to release some Israeli men may be needed to maintain gun silence beyond Wednesday as the number of women and children held captive declines.

Hamas and Islamic Jihad released 12 hostages on Tuesday, bringing the total to 81 since the truce began on Friday. These were mostly Israeli women, children, and foreign citizens.

Israel subsequently freed thirty Palestinians. The Palestinian Prisoner’s Club reported that half of the inmates were female and the other half were teenage males. As a result, 180 Palestinians were released in total in accordance with the truce.

The focus was on whether Qatar, the mediator, could secure an additional extension.
