Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon

Must read

Israel carried out multiple attacks in southern Lebanon over the last day, one of which resulted in the death of a senior Hezbollah commander.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that a strike on the village of Qaraoun in the western Beqaa district on Tuesday killed Mohammed Qassem Al-Shaer, a commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force.

Hezbollah confirmed Al-Shaer’s death and said it responded by launching “dozens” of Katyusha rockets and drones at two locations in northern Israel.

The IDF reported no casualties, intercepting some of the “projectiles” while others fell into an open area. The IDF responded by targeting the Hezbollah launchers used in the attacks in the Mansouri and At Tiri regions.

Lebanese state media NNA reported that several Israeli strikes overnight caused “extensive damage” to property, crops, and buildings in the town of Al-Qlaileh.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hezbollah confirmed the death of another fighter but did not provide details about the location or manner of the death.

The Israel-Lebanon border has been the site of nearly daily fire battles since the start of war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza on October 7.
