Ukrainen President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced on Sunday that a framework for EU accession talks is expected in the spring and that the European Commission and Ukraine will soon evaluate Kyiv’s efforts to bring its laws in line with EU standards.
He recalled that on Thursday, at a summit, EU leaders reached the decision to initiate formal membership negotiations with Ukraine.

The Ukrainian government rushed to reform European Commission-identified priority areas in response to Brussels’ offer of candidate status four months after Moscow’s invasion in February 2022.
Ukraine reportedly implemented four of the seven recommendations put forth by the commission last month. These provisions encompassed the recruitment of anti-corruption officials, the preparation of the judiciary for a significant reform, and the synchronization of media legislation with EU standards.
The commission stated that a reevaluation of Ukraine’s progress would occur in March.
