The Israeli military reported that an attack in Beirut approximately three weeks ago killed Hashem Safieddine, a potential successor to the late Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, along with other commanders.

Safieddine is Nasrallah’s maternal cousin; the two pursued their education in Iran during the early 1980s. He was considered one of the most likely heirs to the organization’s highest-ranking seat until his predecessor’s death, during which time he served as the head of Hezbollah’s executive council.

The United Nations has reported that the water supply at the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza has completely run out. According to the director of Gaza’s health ministry, medical supplies have been unavailable in the northern region for 18 days. He also accused the Israeli military of impeding the arrival of international aid convoys.

Despite Hezbollah’s ongoing struggle due to Israeli bombardment, Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s beachside home was damaged by a drone strike that penetrated deep into Israeli territory.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Israel to transform its military victory over Hamas in Gaza into long-term strategic glory, and he pressed Netanyahu’s administration to send aid to the enclave.

Blinken warned Israel not to escalate tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon further, despite the expectation that Israel would respond to Iran’s missile attack.
