In an interview with the BBC, Jens Stoltenberg stated that only military aid could guarantee Ukraine’s continued existence as an independent country and compel Russia to negotiate an end to the war.
Mr. Stoltenberg also noted that Russia’s September-ordered partial mobilization program demonstrated Moscow’s current unwillingness to end the conflict.
Even if there appears to be no end in sight to the hostilities, Mr. Stoltenberg stated that NATO must guarantee Ukraine maintains a strong position in the event of negotiations between the two sides.
“We need to provide support to Ukraine now, including military support to convince Russia to negotiate in good faith and respect Ukraine as a sovereign independent nation in Europe.” NATO chief warns.
