NATO announced on Wednesday that during a meeting with Ukraine, allies reaffirmed their commitment to continue providing the nation with substantial military, economic, and humanitarian assistance despite Russia’s invasion.
Additionally, NATO said that member states had devised plans to supply Ukraine with billions of euros worth of supplementary capabilities by 2024.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said, “NATO strongly condemns Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian civilians, including with weapons from North Korea and Iran.”
“As Moscow intensifies its strikes on Ukrainian cities and civilians, NATO allies are boosting Ukraine’s air defenses.”
The commander of the air force, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, and Deputy Interior Minister Oleksii Serhieiev represented Ukraine at the video meeting.
Russia escalated its offensive during the New Year period and earlier this month launched a fresh wave of heavy air strikes against Kyiv and Kharkiv, the two largest cities in Ukraine.
NATO scheduled Wednesday’s meeting in response to Ukraine’s request.
