Ukraine will receive the first of 24 F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands in the near future, the outgoing Dutch government stated on Monday.
Kajsa Ollongren, the Defense Minister, informed parliament in a letter prior to the government transition on Tuesday that the requisite permits have been issued to transport the jets to Ukraine.
She did not disclose the quantity of aircraft included in the initial shipment or the anticipated arrival date in Ukraine due to security concerns.
The Dutch government supplied F-16s to Romania, where Ukrainian pilots and ground crews are learning to fly and maintain the planes in combat.
Ollongren expressed her expectation that Denmark, the Netherlands, and the United States would commence the promised deliveries within months.
