Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will participate in a discussion with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas regarding the current state of affairs in the Middle East in Moscow today.
The Kremlin said in a message on the Telegram app, “We expect an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East in light of the current aggravation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.”
Until Wednesday, Abbas will be in Moscow for the visit. Next, he will travel to Turkey to participate in meetings with President Tayyip Erdogan.
Russia has condemned the murder of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and has urged all parties to avoid further destabilizing the Middle East.
Russia has also consistently criticized the West for disregarding the necessity of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders.
