Russia launched one of its most powerful missile assaults against Ukraine on Friday thus far in the conflict, resulting in the deaths of twelve civilians, the injury of dozens more, and damage to residential buildings in Kyiv, the south, and the west of the country, officials reported.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba urged Kyiv’s allies to increase their support, emphasizing the global need to hear the sounds of explosions in Ukraine.
The massive aerial assault at the end of the year coincides with mounting doubts regarding the magnitude and durability of forthcoming Western military and financial assistance to Kiev, which has been engaged in conflict with Russia for almost two years.
“Russia attacked with all its might…” President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Telegram that 110 missiles were fired, and most went down.
For weeks, Ukraine has issued a warning that Russia may be amassing missiles in preparation for a catastrophic air assault on the energy infrastructure.
