According to the British defense minister, on September 29, 2022 in the Black Sea, the British patrol aircraft Rivet Joint was followed 90 minutes long by 2 SU-27 jets in international airspace. During this time, one of the Russian planes fired a missile near Rivet Joint. Russian officials investigating the incident said on October 10 that the missile launch was caused by a technical problem on board the SU-27. Since this incident, patrol flights of Rivet Joint was suspended. On October 18th, Rivet Joint resumed outposts. It is from now on escorted by 2 Eurofighter Typhoon jets.
