Defense Minister Jaroslav Naď announced that Slovakia had completed a “critical and challenging” logistical operation by delivering all 13 MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter jets to Ukraine. According to Naď, the transfer of equipment was accomplished via road while maintaining the highest levels of security.

It was previously announced that Poland, Ukraine, and other allies would be “closely coordinated” during the handover of the fighter jets.

In March 2023, Ukrainian pilots brought the first four Mig-29 Fulcrum fighter jets to their country, and the nine that were just delivered are a welcome addition.

In exchange for providing two Kub anti-aircraft missile systems, a control system, and ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Slovakia will receive compensation of about $900 million.

The Slovak Republic has awarded a contract to Lockheed Martin to purchase multirole fighters to replace their aging MiG-29 fleet.
