Russian officials described Wednesday’s attack on Moscow by Ukraine as one of the largest drone strikes on the capital since the conflict in Ukraine began in February 2022. Air defenses shot down at least eleven drones during the attack.
Ukraine sent thousands of soldiers into Russia’s western Kursk region on August 6, extending the war that had been raging across the fields, forests, and villages of eastern Ukraine via artillery and drone combat.
45 drones were shot down over Russian territory, with 11 down in the Moscow region and 34 in the Bryansk,, Belgorod, Kaluga, and Kursk regions, according to Russia’s defense ministry.
Russia is currently fighting to stop Ukraine from expanding into the Kursk region and is making progress in eastern Ukraine, where it currently controls about 18% of the territory.
