Ukraine first fired British-French-made Storm Shadow missiles at targets within Russia on Wednesday, as reported by Reuters. The launch occurred one day after Ukraine fired US-made ATACMS missiles onto Russian soil.
Rustem Umerov, Ukraine’s defense minister, refused to confirm the use of the UK-French-made missiles during a news conference on Wednesday.
Umerov said, “we are using all the means to defend our country, so we’ll not go into detail.” Also, he pledged to employ “all available means” to defend the country and deliver blows.
Up to 12 Storm Shadow missiles, according to a Russian military blogger, fired on the village of Marino in Russia’s Kursk region, about 35 miles from the Ukrainian border; he posted photos of the fragment on Telegram on Wednesday.
Ukraine has previously received the Storm Shadow missiles with a longer range from the United Kingdom and France for internal use. The missiles’ range is approximately 250 kilometers (155 miles), which is less than the American ATACMS (186 miles).
