The United States is consulting with close allies about the possibility of imposing new sanctions on China in case it provides military support to Russia in its war in Ukraine.
The purpose of these early consultations is to coordinate support for potential restrictions among the countries, particularly the Group of 7 (G7).
The proposed sanctions from Washington are still not clear, and neither side of these talks has been made public until now.
In the past few weeks, Washington and its allies have said that China was thinking about sending weapons to Russia. Beijing has denied these claims. The staff of U.S. President Joe Biden has not released any supporting evidence.
