German Navy Tests 127mm Vulcano Precision-Guided Munition

Must read

The German Navy qualified the 127mm Vulcano precision-guided munition with the frigate Rheinland-Pfalz (F225). Multiple Vulcano projectiles fired from the frigate reportedly hit within a few yards of one another near the target marker, proving the shooting was a success, as reported by BAAINBw.

Now that the Vulcano has been given the green light for deployment, additional ammunition shipments will begin shortly and wrap up by the end of 2026.

Vulcano will be used by the F126 frigates, the first of which is expected to arrive in 2028, as well as the F125 (or Baden-Württemberg-class) frigates, which are currently being used by the German Navy.

This milestone will allow German Navy vessels to use the Leonardo-supplied ammunition in operational roles.

The FGS Rheinland-Pfalz (F225), one of the frigates in the Baden-Württemberg class, hosted the acceptance trial of the new ammunition off the coast of Norway.
