Indonesia To Be First Foreign User of Turkey’s Khan Missiles

Roketsan, a Turkish missile manufacturer, and the Southeast Asian nation recently signed a contract at the Indo Defence Expo & Forum in Jakarta.

The Khan is a 280 km (174 mi) range export variant of the BORA missile with a high-explosive warhead weighing 470 kg (1,036 lb). An aerodynamic control system and a global positioning system ensure precise attacks on enemy installations. Depending on the needs of the client, the missile can be launched from either a multi-barrel rocket launcher or a tactical wheeled vehicle.

After signing contracts with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Roketsan official Murat Kurtulus said, “We will soon be putting our first products into the service of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.”

In addition to the Khan missiles, the Atmaca anti-ship missile system of Turkey has been rumored to pique the interest of the Indonesian Navy.
