This document is the publicly accessible part of the first Bundeswehr Military Strategy and the resulting Plan for the Armed Forces, both approved by the Chief of Defence in April 2026.
The Military Strategy, together with the Plan for the Armed Forces, also known as the Bundeswehr Capability Profile, forms the overall concept of military defence: The Bundeswehr Military Strategy outlines the strategic environment and determines how the Bundeswehr will respond to the threat situation in the framework of the Alliance in order to successfully deter and, if necessary, defend.
